Picking a name nobody else will type
October 12, 2026 · 2 min read
On MailPingBack, the name before the @ is the whole inbox. There is no password behind it, so a name that is easy to guess is an inbox that is easy to read.
Names to avoid
- Common words and first names:
test, hello, john, mail. - Your real name, birthday or usernames from other sites, because they link the inbox back to you.
- Short names. Fewer characters means fewer combinations to try.
Some names are blocked entirely, such as admin, postmaster or abuse. These have special meanings in email and should never belong to a random visitor.
What the random button gives you
When you leave the name empty, or open the site for the first time, you get a name like quietfalcon7k2m9: two words to make it readable, plus five random letters and numbers. Each generated name is handed out only once. Our server keeps a list of every name it has issued and will not give the same one to anyone else.
Names you type yourself are not checked this way. If you choose pizza, so might someone else.
The rules for typed names
- Lowercase letters, numbers, dots, dashes and underscores.
- Up to 30 characters.
- Capital letters are turned into lowercase automatically.
Keeping hold of it
The site remembers your last address in your browser, so coming back on the same device brings you to the same inbox. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, write the address down. Mail stays for seven days, so you can return to it within that time.
